St. James Episcopal School

The School

St. James Episcopal School is an independent school in Ormond Beach, Florida that has a long and proud history.

Philosophy

Since its inception in 1954, St. James Episcopal School has continually practiced a mission of developing the whole student in three important elements: mind, body and spirit. The school takes great pride in cultivating high academic expectations, as well as upholding a tradition of spiritual and social growth for each student.

Considered a center for sound learning, new discovery and the pursuit of wisdom, St. James Episcopal School incorporates into each school day a rigorous academic setting, as well as high standards for personal and social development.

Though the school is an Episcopal institution, students of non-Christian backgrounds are encouraged to share and develop the tenets of their faith within the community of St. James, as the school places great emphasis on the importance of tolerance, unity and a respect for fellow man.

At St. James, the faculty, staff, and school community believe that the students are the leaders of the future. In developing the potential of each child as a leader, the school guides the development of the whole child, focusing on the intellectual, emotional, physical, social and spiritual composition of each individual. The students' individual differences are addressed within small, personalized classrooms through thinking skills, problem solving abilities, and organizational skills. In a stimulating and supportive environment, children are encouraged to set their own pace. In this manner, children are encouraged to learn in an environment of security, enthusiasm, and personal fulfillment.

St. James Episcopal School is accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS) and the Florida Kindergarten Council (FKC). It is a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
