Halifax Urban Ministry (HUM)
HUM responds to emergency needs of hungry, homeless, low-income people through food distribution, hot meals, emergency financial assistance and cold weather shelter.
St. James is responsible for feeding the homeless the second Friday of each month at the Homless Assistance Center, 316 North Street, Daytona Beach, beginning at 9:00 AM.
The middle school students from St. James volunteer some of their time to help feed the homeless, and several of our parishiners are active in this ministry. We continue to support them with monetary donations, food donations, and volunteering at the kitchen. In December, we sign and deliver Christmas Cards to the homeless at the shelter and donate clothes and toiletries. HUM is always in need of replenishing their food bank. There is a box in the narthex for donations. As you shop, please remember those who have less than you do. Please bring your contribution to church on Sunday.
Right now HUM is in need of volunteers. This is a good time to join this worthy ministry.
This is a great way to serve those less fortunate and to get to know your St. James family better by working side by side. Please contact Marty Price 441-2727 if you are interested in this worthy endeavor.
