Caring Through Sharing
Operation Caring Through Sharing is a sponsorship program that provides nutritional assistance to families in needs. It is a year round organization run entirely by volunteers. OCTS matches those more fortunate with those in need. Sponsors are matched with needy families in our community. They provide food to 210 families in our county, including many in Ormond Beach.
The organization functions only with volunteers so that every dollar goes directly for food. A sponsor will be asked to pack and deliver a box of food to a drop site (not a home) once a month. It costs $35.00 to $50.00 each month to provide groceries for one family. If this is more than you can take on, you can send a check and volunteers will shop and pack your box for you each month. You are given a description of the family and information about them.
Groups, individuals, classes etc. can "adopt" families.
St. James School is participating in Caring Through Sharing with many classes adopting families. Various groups withing St. James Church are also taking part in this wonderful project.
