Message From Father Stephen Morris

Dear St. James Parishioners:

Come...Experience and Explore Grace

This simple invitation is the tag line for St. James Church and School's newly adopted Vision Statement and Strategic Plan. The excitement and enthusiasm continues to build as the vestry committees and task forces get to work and grow. Now is truly an exciting time to be part of this dynamic parish and day school.

So much of what will be done over the next three to five years will impact the way our campus looks and feels. My hope and prayer is that when completed, our campus renovations will result in a glorious reminder of the stability of the ever-abiding presence of God.In this day and age the word contemporary gets so much attention and use that we sometimes lose sight of the traditions of our faith that are tried and true.St. James will assume the leadership role in this community with regards to tradition. The look, feel and overall atmosphere will assist us as we soulfully seek the touchstone of grace, mercy and love that God gives us in Jesus Christ. If we do not preserve the tradition of the church and pass it on to upcoming generations who would not otherwise have access to it, who will?

As we continue to grow in spirituality within our own ranks, we must not forget the unloved, unlovable, lonely and broken-hearted.As much as we do for ourselves and within our own community we will also do for others and those outside of this community with only one objective in mind and heart; that we will all come to realize that we are really ONE community...God's children.  Nations and churches, alike are quick to separate into us and them these days.  Our efforts of outreach will seek to bring unity rather than division.  Us and them thinking and living offers none of the healing balm of God to flow in and through Christian community.

You may recall that Jesus never asked us to worship him as his Word to us is revealed in the Gospels.Over and over again, however, he asks and encourages us to follow him.  As disciples of Christ we seek to do just that and when we find ourselves in step with His grace, the natural response is to fall on our knees in adoration and praise.

See you in church,

Stephen
