Chip Howden, Senior Warden

 
 

Chip, a native of Savannah, GA, is married to the former Sue Wood of Douglas, GA.  They have one daughter and twin grandchildren who also live in Palm Coast and attend St. James.  Chip graduated from Georgia Southern University and spent 40 years in Human Resources with paper, chemical and electric utility companies while living in the midwest, northeast and southeast.  Chip was Baptized and Confirmed at St. John's Episcopal Church. He is a graduate of Education for Ministry and a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. He and Sue have attended St. James since 2006.  Chip serves as a LEM, at HUM in Daytona Beach, on the Fellowship Committee, Biscuit Brigade, is a facilitator for Mourners Path, participates in several PBS groups and is a delegate to the Diocesan Convention. 

Joe Hindman, Junior Warden

 
  Joe grew up on a wheat farm in Kansas and attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA.  He has lived in Volusia County since 1993 and has been a member of St. James since 1998.  Joe married lifelong St. James member Erin (Bradley) at St. James in 1998 and they are the parents of three boys.  Joe enjoys coaching youth sports including football, basketball and soccer for both the City of Ormond Beach and the Ormond Beach YMCA.  Joe has served at St. James as Interim Youth Minister, on multiple Habitat for Humanity projects, and on the Rector Search Committee.  He is an active Lay Eucharist Minister and serves as Co-Chair of the Holiday Bridge Challenge..

 Howard Bradley, Treasurer

 
 

Howard and his wife, Sherry, became members of St. James in 1974 shortly after he graduated from Stetson University.  Howard's professional background is in accounting and finance.  The Bradleys have two daughters, Jeannie and Erin, who attended St. James School.  They now have six grandchildren with two of their grandsons attending St. James School and a third one starting in the fall.  Howard has been treasurer of the Vestry since January 2009.  He has attended Alpha, serves on the Board of Trustees for St. James School, is a member of the Endowment Committee and the Stewardship Committee and also serves as an Usher. 

 Debi Callahan

 

 

Debi has been a member of St. James Church since 2005.  She moved to Ormond Beach from Virginia with her family in 1972.  She has been married to Kevin for almost twenty-five years. They have one daughter, Taylor, who attended St. James School for seven years and is now a junior at FSU.  Debi has been in the product development and importing business for over twenty-five years.  She and her husband are active in local historic preservation. 

Bill Douglas

 
Bill was born and raised in East Central Indiana far from any town whose name would be recognized.  He spent the first eleven years in a small community before moving to a farm.  He attended Purdue University where he receivaed a B.S. in biology followed by medical school at Indiana Univerrsity Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Bill served an internship and residency in Tampa, Florida, and a fellowship in Detroit, Michigan.  Bill and his wife, Ann, moved to Ormond Beach in 1974.  Dr. Douglas retired fronm the practice of pathology at the end of 2007.  He and Ann began attending St. James Episcopal Church about ten years ago. 

Dory Dunn 

 

Dory, born in Orlando, grew up in Belle Glade, Florida and attended St. John's Episcopal Church where she and Dave were married.  Atlanta was home for several years, while Dave attended Emory University School of Dentistry, before moving back to Daytona in 1981.  Their five children all attended St. James Episcopal School and are now grown.  Dory taught and coordinated Sunday School at St. James for many years.  She has a B.S. in Recreation from the University of Florida and a Vocational Certificate in Ornamental Horticulture from D.B.C.C.  Being a member of the St. James Altar Guild and The 
Daughters of the King is a special joy to Dory.   She is enjoying serving on the Vestry. 

Dianna Dyer 

 

 

Dianna was born in Charleston, West Virginia, then lived in New Jersey, and finally moved to Daytona Beach with her family in 1958.  She graduated from Seabreeze High School and Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri with an AA degree.  She attended Florida State University and married her husband, Ben, at St. James in 1967.  Dianna and Ben have three children, Gigi, Elizabeth and Ben III, and a grandson, Samuel, who attends St. James School.  Dianna was active in the school while her children attended and has taught 4th - 6th grade religious classes and Sunday School for over fifteen years at our church.  She and her husband are ushers and Dianna is currently singing in the choir.  She has worked on many different church committees and is looking forward to her work on the Vestry.

 John Klipfel

 

 

 

 John was born and raised in Hamburg, New York, a suburb of Buffalo.  After graduating from Hamburg High School, he earned a degree in Commercial Art from Bryant and Statton College.  He is a veteran of The United States Air Force.   He is married to Patsy Crouch Klipfel and they have a son, Trevor, who is a freshman at the University of Florida and a daughter, Lindsay, a senior at Seabreeze High School.  John and his family have been attending St. James since returning to Florida from North Carolina in 2000 to be close to family.  John serves as an usher and LEM at the 8:00 am service and Patsy serves on the Altar Guild.  John is a graphic designer at The Daytona Beach News-Journal. 

Leslie Ramshaw 

 

 

Leslie was raised in Jacksonville, Florida and is a graduate of the Univeristy of Florida.   She is the mother of two boys, Jack and Eli, and is married to Dr. David Ramshaw.  Leslie volunteers in a weekly reading program in the public schools and is an active parent at St. James Episcopal School.  She has attended St. James Episcopal Church since 1996, participating in Alpha, the Chip Ingram parenting series and serving on the Pastoral Search Committee for Fr. Jim Harris.  In addition to being on the Vestry, she is currently an usher for the 10:15 am service and is the liaison for the Church and School's involvement with the Operation Caring Through Sharing program. 

 Edgar Scott

 

 

Edgar was born in Columbus, Georgia, and graduated from Carver High School.  He went on to graduate from Bethune-Cookman University and then earned a Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from Nova University.  He and his wife Michelle have four children including daughter Alicia Tiwari and sons Vince Carter, Jeff Scott and Chris Carter.  Edgar played professional football for the L.A. Rams in the National Football League and the Jacksonville Sharks in the World Football League.  He has recently retired as a Teacher, Coach and Administrator after thirty-six years in the Volusia County Schools.

Charles Scrabis 

 

Charlie was born just outside of Boston in Newton, Massachusetts, and his family moved to Ormond By The the Sea when he was two years old.  He attended St. Brendan's School through the eighth grade, graduated from Father Lopez and the University of Florida with a degree in English.  He served in the Army for five years.  He and his wife, Stacey, were married in 2002 and have two sons, Brock and Grant.  Charlie enjoys coaching his boys for the city of Ormond Beach and surfing.  Charlie and Stacey joined the St. James community in 2007 and started the Holiday Bridge Challenge in 2008 which has become a very successful part of our Outreach program and missions.  Charlie also served on the Search Committee for our Rector and looks forward to getting to know everyone as he serves on the Vestry.  Charlie's professional background is in risk management and business insurance.   

 Brooke Staley

 

 

Brooke's family moved to Ormond Beach in 1962 and began attending St. James.  During Brooke's high school years, he was an acolyte and active in the youth group.  After college, he relocated to Erie, PA, where he was an active Episcopalian at several churches in the area.  In 2007. Brooke returned to Ormond Beach and rejoined St. James.  Brooke is a 2nd year Vestry member where he is serving as the Clerk.  He is on the Finance Committee and the Outreach Committee.  He is the acolyte trainer and also a LEM, a reader and an usher.  He also serves as the Treasurer of the St. James School Board of Trustees.   Brooke's professional background is in accounting, finance and general administration.  He is happy to be back "home" with his family and his family parish. 

Connie Treloar 

 

It is with great pleasure that Connie is serving three years on the Vestry of St. James. She served on the St. James Vestry in the early 90's and then served on the St. Mary's Vestry in the late 90's.  She hopes that her past experiences with the church, her service as Treasurer of Halifax Medical Center's Board of Commissioners and as the bookkeeper for Budd's medical office will be of some help. Connie has served on many boards and in a leadership capacity on most of them.  Volunteer service has been her life's endeavor and achievement, and she hopes to continue contributing whatever she can as long as she lives.  Connie loves St. James, and is thankful for the privilege and honor of serving in this capacity.
